The glass cases on the right show the results of the monks' fine script art, such as the Lectionary dated 1068, the Anthem-book dated 1460, a palimpsest in Greek and Latin of the 8th and 12th century
containing St. John's Gospel, as well as several papal Bulls and Diplomas.
On the left several Books of Hours (Lay Prayer Books) with elegant illuminations.
The next glass case holds some copies of St. Benedict's Rule, one of which is dated 1317 and the other 1480, as well as some copies printed in 1500.
In the opposite glass we can admire some incunabola (i.e. books printed in the 15th century when the printing press was invented), some books - cinquecentine - printed in the 16th century among which the famous Aldine, by Aldo Manuzio, renowned Venetian printer; as well as several precious book bindings (photo no.1)
and tiny bibliographic curiosities.
