After having crossed the Statue Hall, we can admire significant remains of the marble and mosaic decorations of the famous Montecassino Basilica commissioned by Abbot Desiderius and embellished by oriental artists: the jambs of the main portal of the Basilica with mosaic fragments resting against the wall,
the two breyhounds, 11th cent., originally located on the altar dais near the tomb of St. Benedict; the remains of the rich cosmatesc paving.
